Red Squirrels Spotted On The Marsh!

The newest addition to the Scouting family has finally arrived on the Marsh. 1^st Lydd Scout Group is excited to present their Squirrel Drey. Squirrels is the latest group of young people to join the scouting family in 2021.

Squirrel Scouts began to provide a foundation for children aged 4-6, teaching them essential life skills and reaching communities most impacted by the pandemic. The program was designed to help young children develop vital life skills, including teamwork, communication, and creativity, during a critical stage of their development.

Since September 2025, 1^st Lydd Scouts has been running Squirrels every other Friday, and on 7th November, invested their first four Squirrels, with more to follow over the coming weeks. They made their promises and also created pinwheel poppies, as just two days later, they took part in their first official public engagement, participating in the Remembrance parade in Lydd on Sunday, 9^th November.
